    Dirty intercooler

what qualifies as a dirty intrcooler? As in, what condition needs to be cleaned and what does not.

I pulled mine last month at 55hrs for the 1st time. It looked clean to me. No build up of anything that I could see. I did notice some clean engine oil down near bottom and near blow off.

I didn't consider this to be dirty at all?

when oil has clogged the cooling fins is a good indicator

That's what I'm asking, I certainly saw oil in there but not so sure what oil clogged looks like, other than the obvious blackened sludge.

so what you are saying is the intercooler needs to be spotless and dry? That, it was not. I had seen pics of them with black lines in the center rows and mine looked new in comparison. However, it was not free of oil.

    shit

When shooting high pressure water in the openings of the IC put it over an old towel or just a clean surface ,see what the water looks like that comes out the other side...

Then you'll know how clean your IC is
