Finally broke 80 on the couch!
After a few years of mods and chasing 80 it finally happened yesterday, mods in sig. Now for the honest part...my best gps this season was a bunch of 79.1's and one 79.5. So yesterday wife and I are out late afternoon and finally looked at her thinking, "Hmmm bitch is nice and light at 105lbs". I convince her to take a ride but caution her that she's never ridden this ski and fastest she's ever been on a ski is her modded 951 2 stroke at 68gps by her, 65 by me at 210. Water was near glass and she wouldn't push it unless comfortable. I was rather shocked as she's doing fly byes at WOT with ease and very comfortable. She heads back toward me yelling "81.5"...I yell back "bullshit" until I saw the gps and had to snap that pick. Now it gets a little funny because shes laughing and I had to ask "what's up with that?". She tells me right after she killed the throttle she was scratching her head that I'm always saying it goes 79 yet all she saw on speedo was flashes of 70...I'm rolling cause the speedo locks at 70. That's when being so puzzled she looked down at gps. Had she known her speed maybe she'd a backed off...lol. Was a good day to turn 50!
And I still have a Lucky-13 cone to install yet.

Congrats! That is moving on that hull! All the hard work pays off! And Happy Birthday too - I hit that 'magic'
number last year myself.

I cheated but who cares..lol. Shaved 105lbs off that ski and gained 2mph. I'm twice her weight and 10" taller. I'll rent her out for speed runs.

Exactly! Heck, guys might pay $100 for an extra 2 mph of bragging rights! I wonder too if you tried to put all your weight way back if you might get closer to her speed too ...

Congrats those are always great days when the speed is up.
A close similar story A few years back one of my girls turned 14 and was able to ride by herself I rode on the back to make sure she knew how to ride with all the years riding with me. And sure enough she rides goes off for a while I start to get nervous thinking she had a problem. next think I know she is blasting past me I am on the bank she is at WOT. No fear was a cool thing to see. Mr. 73.9 ?

Tried that..what you think got me from 79.1 to 79.5...lol. Short of pullin a superman on the thing and at 80..naaa these tired old bones end up in hospital for sure and I was stretched out the most I dare at that speed..one bad bump your junk. I nearly flew off a couple weeks ago when my vest acted as a damn kite from not being zipped up fully and yanked me pretty good on a windy day in the rough...I'm good!
