how to run on the trailer

Just picked up 2 09 vx cruisers with only 25 hours on them and am wondering how do I go about safely running them on the trailer? Can I run them for a minute or so without doing damage?

You can run them out of the water for about 20 seconds without water and as long as you want with a hose attached to keep them cool. I would not be revving the crap out of any Ski out of the water however as there is no load on the engine and not all parts would be cooled by the water while on the hose like when its in the water. If you run them for a minute the engine overheat will sound and its too hot and way too close to doing damage when you can just hook up a hose.

Just the opposite. Fire up first. Then turn water on. When ready to stop, shut water off then turn ski off.

With all watercraft the water is turned on after the engine is started. At the end, turn water off first, then turn engine off. This ensures that garden hose water cannot back flow from the exhaust into the non-running engine.

Engine can safely be run without any water for a handful of seconds, but not for a full minute.

What do you want to accomplish when running the engine on the trailer? If you just want to confirm it will start and idle for a few seconds then no water is necessary.

Boats however, are just the opposite from PWC. Guess that's where the confusion come from. Many boat owners swear they are cranking a PWC correctly. But in all reality, if you are quick on the hose valve, I doubt it makes much difference on PWC. If you delay, well..... Just best to get in the habit of following proper procedure.

The only real reason to run any PWC on a hose is to flush after salt water use. Some do more harm than good running on a hose.

30 -40 seconds, you can run longer on these skis, but its not a good idea.

Seadoos will cause excess wear on the carbon seal and your ski can sink one day because of it....Yamis are designed differently.

If you were to put on a valve on the water inlet hose from the jet pump and closed it while running/ flushing, you could flush the ski in the water, kwtony trick Only reason to put a valve on these skis, and make sure to do it out of warranty.
