2001 Virage no spark

We were riding Saturday the virage ran fine. Then would not start engine turns over getting fuel. Do I need to ground the the spark plugs to check for a spark? The virage is a carb 700 twin.

On the Polaris two cylinder engine both spark plug wires must be connected to the engine somehow when checking for spark.

The easiest method is to leave one spark plug connected normally. Unplug the other and use a spare spark plug to check for spark while holding the metal shell of the spark plug against the engine bare metal.

Keeping two spark plugs installed maintains cranking resistance and avoids false diagnostics from cranking with spark plugs removed. It also prevents fuel mixture from spewing up the open spark plug hole and potentially igniting

I tried starting it one plug in and grounded the second got one spark while trying to start the engine.

Also tried starting the engine holding the bilge button. Then also tried to start it with the lanyard off also.

I suggest disconnecting the LR Start/Stop module and bypass it for testing.

Also make sure the battery really is delivering more than 10.6 volts to the CDI when the engine is cranking.

If you got spark with one plug out I would really be looking at the battery.

Well guys found the no spark problem with the Virage. The problem was the plug wires one wire went completely dead the other was not making a connection. I think the fogging oil got into the wires so I wanted to put this out there.
