Trailering With the Cover On
Hello all, I made my first semi-long distance trip with the ski this past weekend from Central Nj to Ocean City, MD. The trip was about 192 miles each way, after reading different opinions about leaving the cover on or off I decided to leave it on both ways. I was cleaning it up yesterday and I noticed some scuff marks along the edges of the body front and back. I buffed most of it out using marine wax but if you look in direct sunlight you can see some light marks nothing terrible. I guess it's a pick your poison type of thing leaving the cover on or off, just wondering if anyone else had experience with this.

I never travel with it on for that exact reason. Easier to wash the ski if dirty in travels then wax it!

I tried to tell you. (or maybe it was another guy asking about trailering with cover on).
Of course, several people shot me down. Live and learn.

Yep, on just a 45 min trip with my cruiser I learned the lesson the hard way. Never again.

I chose to run always with the cover, as I was always worried about stone chips. To stop the marks you could throw a simple sheet of cotton over the ski first, then fit the cover. No need to make it fancy or fitted, the cover will keep it in place.
Buy a cheap bedding sheet.
Also, with the cover on stops the fiddlers messing with your ski when you stop for a break at the services

i do not and will not ever use a cover. not even when shes in the garage. i had covers for my 95 and 99 GTXs back in the day and used them once heading to a race. made it about 30 miles and pulled over and took them off. they were on correctly but were not factory covers. if memory serves they were slippery brand covers. no matter how i tied them down they would start flapping.

Yep me neither...F covers. My brother has two skis that had the steering pad area and seat stained horribly from leaving his skis covered outside with factory covers...pretty much whatever material the cover was touching got blackened from it. Whether it's from rain molding, sun or whatever they were brand new when they went under the covers and came out jacked up the following Summer. I saw that I swore I would never use a cover, garaged or while towing.
