    Fuel level sending unit?

After my rebuild I added 5gallons of fuel to what was probably 3 gallons already in the tank. Fuel level read full and I didn't think much about it. I've put 4 10-15 min heat cycles and it still shows full.

During the rebuild I tried to unsuccessfully siphon the gas out of the tank. Could I have jammed the float up? Do they even use a float?

It looks like the sending unit slides out through the opening left by the storage bucket. Is that true, will it just slide out? 01 GP1200

the float is inside the sending unit so you cant hit it with anything. The whole unit just slides out of the top of the tank

maybe if there is a short to ground. I would ohm the sending unit, and remove it to see what`s going on. only way to really know for sure.

There's 2 wires leaving the unit. One should be ground and the other should be varied voltage? I've got the manual but there's no testing procedurally
