4-tec hours, reading the ECU.
I have seen a seadoo 4tec advertised with suspiciously low hours, I know when the clocks are replaced sometimes the hour counter starts again at 0, but the ECU should hold the true hours ? (what happens if ECU gets replaced or reflashed?)
I know there are several devices out there but which ones can read the ECU hours? As it is a ski i am looking to buy rather than one i own can the hours be accessed without it counting as a use of the systems like Candoo? and using up a license?
IS there a cheap usd adapter that will access this sort of info? Like the ODB2 adapters?

05 I think but if you tell where that would be good, I assumed the clocks read the info from the ecu but was told not always.

02-05- stored in ECU (the hours that display on dash)
hours are also stored in MPEM and can be read with BUDS or similar.
06-2011(before the changed to the most recent cluster)
hours are in gauge(the ones you see)
hours also stored in Ecu and can be read with BUDS.
If the numbers are a mile off you know something g was replaced.
11+ I'm not sure on.
And i believe ecu(02-05) and gauge 06+, store run time hours. MPEM stores the hours the DESS post has a key on it. So MPEM hours should be a tad higher.

Bosch ECU Skis are from the ECU
Hours mean nothing as they can be changed with the right software

to read hours or access anything with a candoo, you have to use a vin license.
what are the details on the suspiciously low hours?
low hours means it sits around a lot whsich lets corrosion take hold.
I prefer skis with average hours actually, I turn up my nose at low hour skis as owners don't think they need anything, even after sitting around 11.5 months a year.
parts age, that's the nature of the universe.

If you do look at that ski, try to push it back off the rollers a bit and look closely at the hull.
