    05 vx110 keeps destroying #4 piston

I got a vx 110 for what i thought was a steal. 43 hours super clean and an almost new trailer, all for less than $500. I knew going in it had engine problems but couldn't resist.

Found it had a cracked piston #4. Replaced piston, all new gaskets, blah blah blahhh. It was working flawlessly and I was checking plugs after every riding session.all looked good. This weekend after putting almost 14 hours on the new stuff it just quit. No hessitation, no noises. I just idled out of the no wake zone, hit the happy lever full throttle and it jumped up planed for about 10 feet then shut off. It refused to turn on but was turning the engine over, with seat off I could see pto spinning. Got towed in and took it home.

I haven't taken her apart yet but after removing all the sparkplugs #4 is once again fried. No electrode and the whole inside of plug where the porcelain and tip are supposed to be is welded shut with aluminum. Why if it was running awsome with no signs of leaning out in the previous trips did it grande on this one?....

    Any ideas would be great.

I've ruled out bad gas as my friend filled up at the same pump after me and his supercharged monster is still alive. I cleaned and ganged injector positions before putting it back together the first time. I did the intake mod wich in tails of a new free flow k&n style filter and removal of the donut inside of the intake. I was constantly gps'ING in the 54 to 55 mph range with a 1/4 tank and my 190 pound frame on it. Maybe these mods caused it to lean out? Maybe I should have used 90 instead of 87? All other plugs looked good, no peppering or aluminum pits on any of the others. Why do I always get the weird problems. Lol

did you check for sand deposits around cylinder 4 when remove the head? overheat maybe? lack of oil lubrication ? im just guessing given you ideas where to start.
how far did you open the engine , did you inspect oil system? like cleaning the pan and reservoir for example.

There was seaweed in some of the exhaust ports. When I took it apart. I took head apart and saw no oiling problems. Inside of engine looked like it was built yesteday. As clean as the day it was built. No residew of any kind found. Just fresh oil with a piece of piston skirt from previous piston taking a dump. There was a lot of seaweed floating around this weekend. Maybe I injest ed some of that and it overheated that one piston only. Pufffttttt what a bummer if it was something so simple.. I did find it odd but dismissed it on trip before last my bud drove past me idling and I noticed his pisser pissing away. I looked ad mine and didn't notice anything coming out of it. I quickly dismissed it as I took off and she began pissing again. Just shook it off and didn't give it any more thought. May have been clogged system.
