    Fuel Consumption

Guys please can you take a quick look at my SIG and give me your opinion as to how much ride time I should get out of a full tank of fuel.

I know there will be variations, riding style, WOT, weather and load but I just need a few guesses and Ill work out an average.

    Cheers

My fully modified 2003 GP1300R can go from full to below buzzer in about an hour near WOT. I would estimate 14-15 gallons used and an average speed (gps) of 58mph for that hour. Conditions were glass to light wind ripple. I cant see your signature as I use Tapatalk. About 55 miles per tank is safe on my ski. I would guess I might be able to push 65 if running out isn't a concern and ran it dry. (Just a guesstimate) At slower speeds the economy improves a bunch.

My 05 sucks gas like a mofo....twice as much as my Fzr for same distance ,weather, rider weight, av speed etc when ridden together but that's normal for 1300s even when stock so I basically ride from one gas station to another when im on that.

Not really too sure on the range because we don't ride very far distances at one time but we ride hard for short periods...more like here-to-there, back and forth, stop and go and refueling when needed but what I can say is that everytime the gp is empty the fz still has half tank which is about 2 gallons bigger....

Do around 100km per 1 full tank. Which is around 50-60mins of ride time.

Would you say a vx would see around 200km per tank?

My 2007 GPR1300 has most of the same mods as your ski and it also consumes lots of gas at or near wot.

The turbo 4-strokes are more efficient at lower speeds but once you get on the throttle they consume just as much fuel.
They are heavier boats and that offsets any efficiency. It takes fuel to make power.

I am working on getting my squish to target of 0.040 based on advice from member Prism.
I changed from two layer head gasket to single layer (-0.010). My squish is still not quite there and I plan to have my head milled again (the late and great Oside bill did it the first time) and go back to two layer head gasket.
Anyway what I did notice an improvement in fuel consumption just by going to the single layer gasket.
There are many benefits by setting the correct squish and efficiency is one of them.

    Regards, Ceril

my 1200 XLT gets about 2.8mpg. on an 18.5gal tank I might be able to see 55miles if I dont push it hard.
    Either way, it's stupid thirsty
