    Update about my 2015 FZR

Met with the Yamaha rep today at the dealership (Deland Motorsports). The hub stripped out on the shaft, and he said it's due to the engine being revved excessively out of water casing the hub to loosen up and retighten causing it to fail. It was his professional opinion that it was done during the demo day (I bought the ski with 5hrs on the clock for 2k off MSRP, it was used a dealer demo day the week prior). Since it was not a defect Yamaha Corporate will not be covering my medical bills.

What did Deland Motorsports have to say about it? They said "We will fix your ski under warranty and have it back to you tomorrow, otherwise you are not our problem and we are not doing anything else for you".

Fucking assholes. I'm waiting on a callback from my lawyer to see what my options are.

If either party was smart, they'd cover your bills and put it behind them. Is there a warning sticker on the pwc that says revving it can cause serious injury or death? Just my $0.02

You would think they'd want to just sweep it under the rug and move on, but DeLand motorsports have clammed up like a child that did something wrong and refuses to admit it even though you have proof. I really really really don't want to get in a legal battle, but I'm keeping my options open at this point. It's stupid. They fucked up, just pay my bills and move on. I don't want any extra compensation, I just want to ride the damn ski I paid for without it trying to kill me from them revving it up at a demo day like a freaking honda civic in a parking lot car meet.

Although i agree i bet a decent defense attorney could say the dealer DID do their due diligence in performing the 10hr inspection early and this was out of the scope of a normal malfunction. Cost a bunch of money for both sides to get to that point.....

Dont ever look past the bright side, you're alive and you'll have your ski back soon!

Sounds like BS to me too. If the act of revving it out of the water can loosen the shaft and cause it to fail, won't that happen letting off the throttle in the water?

Either way, everyone is washing their hands. What a fantastic world we live in.

I'd advise the dealer about doing something out of court first, if not, they'd be hearing from your lawyer.

just go back and ask them why yamaha call them waverunners? and share their answer. fucking dealers.
few years back i had it with the local dealer in town , ive had a 07 ho under warranty that the throttle bodies came out of synch , well three times at the dealer with no results , i end up telling them i was going to get in touch with a lawyer to resolve the issue, two days later the new throttle arrived .
moral of story , sometimes you have to press it a bit to get results. just try.
