    Buying Used RXP-X260 Quick Question

    Anything in particular to look out for on the 12-14 models? Any year better than the others? I thought I heard something about the '12 models having leaky intercoolers but then they fixed it for '13. Is that true? I found a '12 with only 25 hours and am worried. Plan to mod the ski somewhat. Thanks guys!

    Any of the OEM ICs have been known to leak since 2011. Some people have had problems with the Riva Gen 3 also. Many have had good success with Fizzle HE and Titan made ICs.

    The most common issue with the newer ski's is the engine not being properly aligned with the pump and the thru hull fitting. Once re-aligned all is well.

    BTW, I keep my ski's at Hicks Airfield just east of Eagle Mountain and normally ride on Lake Worth.

    Thanks. Aren't some rumors also circulating that SD will have new engines next year? Maybe 4cyl?

    My motto or rule of thumb is, "If money is not the driving factor, then you should not buy any used powersport item." If you buy used, pay to get it inspected & water tested.

    How do you know when the IC is leaking? Signs while sitting or do you have to be riding it?

    to check if your IC is leaking is easy
    remove the hose from the TB
    start it and do a quick rev like 7000+
    watch the hose to see how much water comes out of the IC
    if more than a few drops then you may have a leaky IC
    you will need to do a real test

    Look at it this way.

    If you plan on doing mods chances are in the Texas heat your going to upgrade the intercooler regardless.


    P.S.: Check to see if they got Seadoo's extended warranty on it. Many times Seadoo through out the year they throw in a multi year warranty.

    I think I might have met you before, you came up to the classic car dealership I work for. Unfortunately I've moved out of the DFW area and am now splitting my time between Charlotte, NC and Tampa, FL (both great places for PWCs!). Anyway, I'm glad to hear that EML finally got some much needed rain!

    That "RXP 400" sticker is bad ass, nice! What if you have a leaky IC and don't know it? Will the ski start running differently? Will a warning light go off?
