MSX 110 - really just a head gasket - or stay away
Here is an ad for a MSX 110 where the current owner blames the "milky oil" simply on a leaky head gasket. Could that really be all there is or is there likely more lurking when you start to get into it???
Description:
I have a 2004 Polaris msx 110 four stroke turbo jet ski in great shape everything runs and works great except it needs a head gasket the oil gets milky after running it starts and runs just needs someone to put a head gasket in it. It was in to a dealer and I was told that's what it needs should be a pretty easy fix just don't have time to fix it myself call or text if interested 1500 cash
Provide your opinions and I will stay away if advised... I'm not looking to put $2K into this...

Stay away...
A headgasket is NO easy fix. Have to pull the entire engine. And why did the headgasket blow? I bet it was a bad overheat. Probably the plastic waterpump drive gear broke and overheated the engine. Block is probably warped to and compression is shot. This all had happened to my ski when I bought it (broken). Many thousand dollars later... it's great!
Find an MSX 140... if you want an MSX.
Cheers!

You would put 3 or 4 k into it by the time you are done.

Perfect!! This is why all this advice is so wonderful. I anticipated that there was more to the story. Why give the thing away if it is a "Simple" head gasket - fix it yourself then and sell it for more.
I'll patiently look for an 140 MSX - it's more in my wheelhouse. Pickings have been slim.

I say:
it's never "just the starter*"
*(of course you can substitute a whole bunch of stuff for "starter")
