PWC Driver Kills One Kayaker, Injures A Second
Once again, a careless PWC operator has stained our safety record. A 29 year old PWC operator said that he was blinded by the setting sun and did not see two kayaks in front of him. He struck both of them, killing one paddler and injuring another.
What a moron! If you can't see where you're going, SLOW DOWN!!!

This was at a nearby lake that I refuse to go to because it is so crowded and the people act like complete idiots. They kill several people each summer in boating accidents.

So Sad, we all have had water blindness @ times when the water reflects sun light @ that moment you can not see a thing. It happens more often then you think. You have to just stop your boat or ski for a min. It passes quickly .... then you can see clearly. Just sad ... this happened. My wife went out today to get her new Kayak. Can you say irony. Please post follow up, on how this all plays out. Thanks for sharing.

not wearing a life jacket on the water is the number one cause of deaths, followed closely by ass-hat boat operation.
polarized goggles can be a lifesaver
situational awareness also.
The pwc operator could have just as easily run into a dock
I stay off our lake here on holdiday weekends..even over 15 miles long, there are plenty off asshats to go around.

Thats why i am lucky to have Lake Michigan. Even if its crowded its really not. I will put up with some cold water for that. I go on the water to escape a crowd not join one. If i didnt have Lake Michigan i wouldnt have skis.

Also if you are moving you should be looking far enough ahead for what is in front of you. How fast was he going that he was blinded for how long and didn't know there were kayaks or other boats in the area. When I am riding I am constantly looking ahead and off both side. Dont like surprises.
