You could get a rebuilt crank. I would remove the motor and tear it down so you can figure out everything it needs. Check the cases for damage. A full rebuild may be the best way to go. I think the MSX 140 is very worth fixing. Get your cylinder repaired and replated. New piston. Probably 1200 bucks worth is its just 1 bad cylinder. More if its all 3 cylinders. That would be for all new parts and a good quality rebuilt crank.

Us Chrome or Millennium can repair and replate cylinders. Both companies are in Wisconsin I believe too.....Many crank rebuilders out there. You could contact John Zigler at Watcon in Janesville, or Midwest Crankshaft in Green Bay is highly regarded. Piston can be bought at a Polaris dealer, or the SPI pistons can be had for about 70 bucks.

Any idea as to the cause of your misfortune?
I had a failed FPR melt down the PTO and take out the crank and cases on my MSX 140. Sadly... the MSX 140 cases and cylinders are a lot more pricey than the red 1200 stuff. Good luck!
Cheers!

I wouldn't swap in a non MSX 1200. Just rebuild it top to bottom and know that it's being done right, and to your standards.
Sell the red top 1200 engine to fund the rebuild if needed.

no I have no idea what caused it.it ran fine when I winterized it last fall. fired it up this year in the yard and ran great.put it in the water to
take to the dock, only ran 30 mph for 1/4mile then blew. some how I have to figure out what caused it. the cylinder pieces look like it possibly was lean, but the other 2 look fine.sure hate to put a new motor in and have problems.
