    new mat install..

so my new mats are out for delivery and i wanted to ask those who have replaced them what did you use to clean the footwells?

they have the PSA to make things easier. i do not know yet if seadoo has any alignment marks in the footwells for the mats. i was thinking a wax pencil to trace the outline of the current mats or blue painters tape.

any tips for a smooth install?

Congrats on the new mats. I know it's been a long time coming! I've never changed mats so I have no tips for you.

Use a good adhesive remover to get all of the old adhesive off. None of that water based crap. Get it squeaky clean and stick the new mats down. Let the mats sit installed for 24 hours before riding the ski.

I used a medium reducer for automotive paint. It works better then acetone and doesnt evaporate nearly as fast, allowing it time to actually dissolve the adhesive

LC~ I placed an order with Hydro- Turf yesterday for a mat on the swim deck of my Challenger. Hydra- Turf recommends cleaning the surface with acetone or alcohol. I don't think I want to clean anything in my boat with acetone so I will most likely use rubbing alcohol. They also recommended using a rolling pin of some sort (even a paint roller) to mash down the mat and let it sit for at least 24hrs before walking on it. Hope this helps.

Post up pics when you're done.
