2004 Rxp
I got my Rxp on the lake Saturday for the first time this season and ran great for about a hour or
so. After that it kind of started bogging down only at higher rpms and would blow blue a little smoke from the exhaust not too bad but you could see it and smell it. At 5000-6000 rpms it runs just fine and don't smoke at all or at idle. Any ideas or where to start?? Thanks for any info.

Mate these old RXP,s seem to be a pain in the arse. Always something going wrong with them. Do the usual checks but im getting the hell out of mine. Its now done a gudgeon pin in the motor and rattles its arse off. Anyone want a cheap RXP? $2000 still runs.

Well did a comp test and #1 was 125psi #2 was 115psi and #3 was 135psi. Are these engines prone to head issues or does the engine need a overhaul??

They are prone to valve sealing issues, due to heat and other things. Before doing a full rebuild you may want to rebuild the head, new valves, valve seat grind and see if that helps. You would want to do that as part of a full rebuild anyway, and it may only need the head redone now.
Once you have the head off, you can fill the combustion chambers with a light fluid and see if that leaks past the valves too, indicating high time for a valve job.

That was my issue. Valve seals were leaking and causing performance loss. Got Chris at east side to rebuild the head and port it to rev and now runs like new.

Don't give up on her! I like seeing 04's still out and about on the water. I'm guessing its something to do with your valve seals as well. I've had them done on my motor before and it's not to hard of a job to get the head off.
Secondly, I wish that the $2000 ski was allot closer to me because I'd buy it!
