Question How bad is this wear ring looking?

Picked up a RXP recently, after a quick test I noticed that take-off seems sluggish. When I hit it I feel a thunder under the seat but it takes 2-3 seconds for it to really start pulling.

Engine seems to run fine, can hit 8k rpm no problem.

Here are picks of how the wear ring looks. There's some deep grooves all the way around and I can fit a 0.62mm filler gauge between the impeller and wear ring no problem. There's probably a 1mm gap all the way around not counting the deeper grooves.

that wear ring is toast, replace it. and that impeller looks like it could use a good clean up on the edges.
now is a good time to check the lube in the pump.

does it cavitate al all? It does look like a bit too much clearance, I recently put a new one in mine and it picked up 2mph, mine looked about like yours,

Since this is my first ski I'm not totally sure how cavitation feels. What it feels off the line is like a powerful washing machine under my ass Slowly starts moving and after couple of seconds starts to pull harder. It just doesn't feel "right" when I hit WOT from dead stop.

Pump lube, that's under the cone correct? Saw somewhere that it's good idea to put oil in there instead of grease, if so what kind of oil?

    Thanks

well we called it a home made slurry of Amsoil grease and Amsoil severe gear lube mixed to like a "cream of wheat" texture.

but I recommend reading up on anything you want to do. torque specs, sequences, and capacities all matter. see if you can find and download a service manual and you`ll be good to go...

what you are describing sounds like cavitation and rightly so with the condition of that wear ring and impeller.

that also looks like a Delrin wear ring, possibly an SBT or maybe even an older OEM wear ring. also check the pump seal when you reassemble.

these guys on this forum will get your squared away. I forgot a lot in my absence of ski`s... and old age...

Cool, the seal looks all right I think, no visible tears or cracks. I see some black sealant/caulking oozing from behind it in a spot.

Here's a tip: If you don't want to pay the $75 for a new Sea-Doo ring, you may be able to flip it to re-use the one you have. As long as the impeller edges are moving adjacent to "newish" material, it should work like new. The key is the clearance between the blade and the ring has to be minimal.

Already ordered SBT one, OEM shipped to Canada was like 2x the cost. Even non OEM has to be better than what I have now

Looks like your pump seal is stuck in the shoe, and should be on the pump

he did mention some RTV on the neoprene seal, looks like the PO had been chasing a cav issue...
