1200 Hurricane Project
Well Here we go again with another 1200 Hurricane Project
With Skis getting larger while adding more Emissions BS on them and Polaris slowly going away and of coarse me being a big Polaris fan I decided to put together a Hurricane I had sitting with no motor in it. I will try and keep up on updating this forum and hope to have the project completed by end of June. I know, I know... LOL
I have had a bit of a head start as the ski is already tore down and at the paint shop. The machine work is close to done so the motor will be getting assembled this week. Pipe is mocked up and fuel tank has been purchased. I have been collecting parts through the winter and spring. Just wanted to make sure everyone knows the starting point of the thread.
I'll be posting pics as I go and I'll post what my ideas are as well
Looking for the criticism and ingenuity of this very sharp group of Polaris People!
If you have parts that may be a good addition please feel free to throw out what you have and would need for it.
Thanks for looking

Engine Ideas
As for the Engine Wossner makes a really nice forged piston that is available up to .050 over. I purchased a set of them for approx. $425.00
Compliments of CrazyA I purchased some 115 octane Polaris racing domes but I'm not quite sure if we will cut the domes out a little more for the sake of compression mgmt. LOL
I would really like to port the engine but don't have any solid data to go from and experience with porting you really need to be careful as to not hurt performance?
The CDI has been reprogramed by John at Watcon, He is going to send me some numbers as to rev limiter and timing so I can get it timed correctly.
I could use some advice on the following items:
- Carburation choice, Jetting
- Porting if possible
- Data on heads, cut the stock ones or use the HC Polaris racing heads
- Use the stock water manifold or tap the head covers and exit them individually
- I was also thinking about using a fuel injected stator cover for the mag piston cooling option
- I can fit the oil injection pump but thought I would just premix anyway?
- How far to extend the ride plate? I was thinking 4"
