Well atleast it wasn't into the motor. You got lucky, but that IC looks like $#!t.

IMO there is nothing like ocean riding AND also, poor corrosion design resistance is no excuse @ 92 and 4 years. Would it have killed em to paint the thing like fizzle did?

personally, I doubt that it was the corrosion you see on the outside that caused the failure.
I do not think that either the BRP, or the Fizzle, has internal corrosion protection.
(I have nothing against either mfr., and could quite possibly be mistaken on this.)
...other than you, when you flush the system after your ride.
I found that I SUCK at corrosion prevention when i lived in FL for a couple of years...
I sucked sooooo bad, that I went to AZ to get away from it.

I agree about ocean riding. When you are riding in crystal clear water with +40ft visibility, surrounded by sting rays, manta's, sharks, tarpon and all of this can be seen in one day while riding. Oh, and lets not forget the surf and ground swells.....nothing like it! It's worth having to deal with corrosion prevention. The key is proper pre-ride and post-ride maintenance.
BTW: XDAILY, that corrosion on the IC is really bad. Yet I would be very happy to get 5 years out of an IC.
As for paint. Seadoo has historically had the worst paint in the industry. All my SD's would flake off no matter how carefully you try to protect it.
