Just bought 09 FZ-S
Hello, I know this is my first post, as I just registered. I do visit this site from time to time. Anyway, not new the jetski world, but I did pickup my first 4 stroke. 09 FZ-S red, 98 hours $6300. I thought this was a steal of a deal. I did buy it from a dealer, and water tested it before I bought it. This thing will get up and run. I have done some research and it seems like a pretty stout ski. Anything I need to watch out for? Any performance mods that are a "must have"? Not trying to make this the fastest on the water. Just reliability, and overall a good running machine. Thanks!!

Buddy you only need to do one thing to that ski, swap out the intake grate with the R&D Aquavein - Jerry sells these here in the online store, he has a 10 percent off coupon for you. This is a potential safety issue to avoid overstuff or bucking which has caused injuries per the reports here on the forum. This is a bolt-on part it takes 10 minutes to change and it will improve your performance but mainly it's a safety issue.
Beyond that, you really don't need to do anything else other than a little basic maintenance and that ski will probably last you for many years, we love ours they have been 100% trouble free. Welcome to the forum, see links below...

Thanks for letting me know this. Do I need to purchase a pump seal kit also?

Not required, but if you're gonna add one it's a good time since you'll be working on that area.

Might also want to add a ribbon delete mod and open up the intake. If you go with a do-it-yourself intake, both mods are very inexpensive, although the ribbon delete is a little bit labor intensive. There are multiple old threads on both mods that will walk you through the entire process. Congrats on your FZS!
