Ultra 150 Impeller Clearance
I bought a used Solas 16/20 that came out of an Ultra 150. It looked to be in great shape. I installed it and put the same amount of shims back in it that I was running with the stock impeller. It had a lot of clearance so I pulled all the shims just to see and it still has too much clearance. My stock impeller was as close as it could get without touching with 3 shims. Not sure what the deal is?

ODD, no shims and it does not touch, then i would say the prop is shot. Being used. Does it look like it's worn on edges?
You could add a washer behind the impeller on the pump shaft to move it forward a bit, That would close up the gap.
Be sure its a stainless steel washer and the exact size
Never seen that done, but might work

Wow, that's really bad, from the look of the splines, its garbage.
You say its used, i would say it probably damaged and someone "shined" it up ad sold it, but the impeller is useless in that state.
Your pump bearings good? no for and aft play?
Stay with the stocker, its far better shape than that prop.

The splines have rust but are actually ok. I rebuilt my pump about 15 hours ago so it's good. The guy is offering a full refund so I'm going to buy a new one this time because I have no clue what's going on with this one. Just for the heck of it, I put 2 large washers behind the impeller which totaled 5mm and it still needed to be slightly closer. I put the stocker back in for now.

I took 2 or 3 shims out when I changed my stock prop to Solas 16/20. Still haven't GPS the ski with the new impeller but think it can get a little top end mph but to be honest I really can't tell much difference at all until 40mph and up

I don't see it being worth it as I raced my friends stock ultra and I barely pulled a ski length in a 1/8 mile run. However it was rougher water not smooth but the ski stayed hooked up. My other mods are in the sig. Best mods are handling with sponsons and ride plate but downside is the ShredMaster plate is no longer being produced. If you like to jump the ski and have fun then keep the stock prop for better bottom end but if you ride rivers then its worth the prop for top end.

I think the crankshaft is the main component needed to change the stroke...
