    Impeller pitch question

    Hey folks,

    I have a 99 carb'd genesis and the pump self-destructed.

The impeller is a part # 2871554 and from what I can find, is a 13/18 pitch. The impeller is destroyed, and I can't find one under that same part number for sale anywhere.

What I do have is a complete pump unit that is in great shape with a impeller part number of 5131366 which is supposed to be a 17/23 pitch.

So, what the heck would happen if I bolt on the 17/23 in place of the 13/18?

Sorry for my ignorance here folks, prop pitch is a new concept to me.

    thanks,
    Scot

The 366 is actually the correct prop for the Genesis. I dont even recognize that number for the prop you have. Do you have a pic of it?

From what I found real quick on the Web is that the first number is the diameter of the propeller and the second number is how for it will move in inches in one rotation ( not saying it's right just a quick explanation that I found ) hope it helps

I'll take a pic of the #554 at lunch and post it. I know it's the stock/original part on this ski. The pump was never touched in 100 hrs by the PO. (why it went boom I suppose).

Does anyone know if the carb'd genesis had a different impeller than the FI genesis?

    5131554 is a Virage 1200 prop.

5132222 is listed as stock for the 99 Genesis. The 5131366 is listed as the stock prop for the other years of the Genesis

Then I guess the impeller was replaced at some point with a Virage part? May have been a dealer thing under warranty?

The PO doesn't know which end of a hammer to hold, so I know he didn't replace. Crazy...

So if it's supposed to have a 222, do you think the 366 will work? They both Google as 17/23 pitch. Could they have just changed the part number but its the same impeller?

I don't even know if the 366 (or 222 for that matter) will fit on the ski if it apparently has Virage pump parts...

    Thanks!

All of the Polaris pumps are physically the same. Only the impellers differ. They are interchangeable as long as you have the proper impeller matched to the engine. The 366 or 222 will work for you.

You listed the number as 2871554. Is that the correct number?

Yep, Polaris 2871554 is on the impeller that came out of the 99 Genesis that I thought was stock.

Thanks so much for you help with this.
