2009 rxt-x impeller won't come loose HELP!!
I can't get the impeller loose on my 2009 RXT-X. It looks like the salt water has frozen it to the pump shaft. It appears rusted on. I've tried heating it up, soaked in oil, tapped center of shaft with a punch and tried different long leverage bars on the impeller tool. I also tried a 120psi air impact driver and thought for sure that would bust it loose but no frickin go! Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks.

Got the boot off reverse thread no problems. It's the impeller that won't come loose. Attempting to turn counterclockwise but this thing seems welded on, even though its not.

How long is your bar? It's only a matter of leverage and something will give, usually the threaded joint.

Try putting like a 3-4 ft pipe over your pry bar and see if that does the job.

Keep soaking it with some penetrating oil, then try tightening it just a bit and then loosening it. If that doesn't work, spray some more penetrating oil in the threads, wait a few hours and try again. Repeat. When you lose your patience, use the 3 ft extension bar suggestion from "skylolow". Be warned, though. If the impeller threads are that rusted, the oil seals are probably shot and need replacing. If they're shot, you've got bigger problems ($$) inside the pump. Good luck!

Lets hope you have a proper bench vise.
It's better to give it up to scrap sometimes rather then injure yourself.
I've broken a couple of bench vises over the years trying too hard
even if you did get it off, the threads would likely be shot.
on a side note, an impact driver will damage the splines
3 foot bar on a quality half inch or better bar with a good quality socket and that vise is what is needed here.
along with a sense of self. how hard will you pull. How much can your setup take?
aftermarket pumps are pricey till you see the bill for the emergency room visit.
without a doubt the entire pump will need a rebuild so don't be shy with the heat
good luck!

Thanks for the replies. The " don't be shy with the heat" worked! Threads look great and all is well. Thanks again for the help! Ready to go hit the water
