    Compartment door gas spring

Just put a brand-new right out of the Polaris packaging compartment door gas spring on my MSX 140 and it will not hold the compartment door up. It doesn't slam shut like the original but when you let it go it closes hard enough to latch itself. just verifying the gas spring should hold the compartment door up all by itself right.

Uh oh. I just ordered one too. It's going to be a month or two before I can get it installed, but I hope I don't have the same issue. My current ones (both skis) do exactly as you describe - hence the new purchase.

Did yours not come with the ends? Mine came with just the body and threads.

I just received a replacement one for mine as well. It came with the threaded ends which I will install new rod ends which I picked up off ebay. Should have it installed this week, ill confirm if it holds the door up or not.

The ends are not included and have separate part numbers.

Yeah I saw it had separate part numbers, but I had bought a new one for the Virage a couple months back and it DID come with the ends.
Figured this one would as well.

Crankshaft has separate part numbers also, but comes as a complete assembly

I wish the piston/strut came with the ends! I picked up the rod ends for like 6.50 on ebay, but I believe parts pit stop has them in stock still!

Oh cool, so they are just generic parts then? Not Polaris specific?

I just got a call from the dealer that was reordering my defective gas spring and the parts manager told me that Polaris has killed the part or no longer available.
