2005 Seadoo RXP - Retired Race Ski

    Hi,

I was hoping I can get some help here. I purchased this ski as a package with another ski and trailer from a retired racer. He told me it has a new motor in it. I talked to the mechanic who intalled the new motor ( Travis Seadoo Master Mechanic here in California ) He told me it had everything upgraded race SC, inercooler, high rev springs, etc I will post pictures of the motor. The ECU that was on it was custom built from a company in new Zealand I believe I was told. That ECU is gone and a stock ecu was installed at time of new motor. I have a vtech maptuner and a licence I purchase for this ski. I want to make sure I have the proper tune for this ski. I beleive it has a data logger it is a black box next to the ECU that say RUAE Performance. is this it: Click image for larger version.

That black box is a stand alone fuel controller made by Rude Performance...One plug should go to the cam sencor and the other to the MAP sensor..The plug in your hand is were you hook up the controller to a computer to communicate and change your fuel mapping..

you may want to ride it just like the "mechanic" set it up to see if there are any issues with the ski as it sits-- unless you know these machines frontwards and backwards.

I would be a leary on running it like that with a Rude controller hooked up..You dont know what kind of mapping is on it and if it was set up for a Aftermarket ECU there could be some major fueling issues...I would get an AFR guage on there ASAP to moniter the AFRs and see were your at...Not may shops have or carry Rude controller software and programming cables..Either that or dis-connect the controller BUT does he know what injectors he has?SCer???Fuel pressure??/He REALLY needs to have an AFR guage before doing anything..

Thanks for the info everybody. I really want to do this the correct way. sorry to sound dumb but what is afr gauge I assume air fuel ratio gauge? and where do I connect it? I would assume if this ski has so many aftermarket parts and had race ecu and rude they should have one hooked up to tune it correctly? What does it look like and where would I look to find it? Also how do I disconnect or bypass the rude controller? sorry for all the questions I really appreciate all the help. I took the ski out yesterday and it is crazy fast and runs good cruising speed but when I hold WOT for about 10 seconds the ski throws an engine temp code. So I backed off and every thing is OK again. I tried WOT one more time and the same thing happened. So I just put it back on the trailer so I do not do any damage to the motor
