    new owner maintenance ??'s

So thanks to much help and guidance from all here on the forum I've recently bought a ultra lx. My main focus was to cruise and fish from it, and I must say it does a great job!

I have been using the heck out of it since I got it, but now I'm unfortunately heading back to work for a couple months. What is the best way to clean it and prepare it for storage?

I've notices a buildup of salt on the engine after a week in the keys. What's the easiest way to remove it? Is it okay to spray the engine with fresh water?

I attached a pic of the salt....plus a couple of the whole rig

Use this to clean it off with CRC SX128 Salt Terminator Engine Flush, Cleaner and Corrosion Inhibitor - 1 Gallon. Then spray it down with Fluid Film.

mate if thats your build up of salt over a week id hate too here what you call mine after a ride in the surf, my engine changes color to white lol. just hose it down with fresh water either a pressure washer or garden hose whatever you are comfortable with. i wash my motor down after every ride with my karcher hotwash and soap.

After riding in the Surf I got Barnacles growing on the Engine..lol

Serious riding or after a few rides hose down everywhere engine, exhaust all metal and plastic parts use a garden hose spray with a spray mist setting, best to when you get back from riding then flushing your ski the heat on engine and other components will evaporate and excess water in the bottom of the hull just soak up with a towel...

Finish off with as mentioned Fluid Film or another safe coating that's safe on plastics and has a high flash point..

I think everyone hit the nail on the head with suggestions. I personally use salt away and WD-40 on metal and fluid film on other parts..

If you get a chance and some extra time I'd like a PM on where you go fishing, what you use. etc. I go down there a few times a year and every time I go I learn something/place new..
