96 GTX cuts out at high RPM - rev limiter?

I have a 96 GTX 787 that during the break-in on a new motor I started going over 6000RPM & the bomb cut out. Not stumble but cut out like a rev limiter or the key had been pulled.
It started right up & ran fine right away & I headed back to land.
This happened before with another motor (twice) & then the motor was toast.

Ive had no issues around 6000 rpm, I've even seen it blip up to 7000 in rough water where the impeller wasn't under load.

- New 787 motor, coil, battery, carbs rebuilt, fuels lines replaced, plugs & wires ....
- breaking in with premix & injector fed gas. on third tank
- Ive been tracking with GPS & haven't exceeded 45mph, most time around 40ish

Any ideas?

Maybe somethings not right with the carbs? Possibly a bad dess post?

Dess post, like loose? Ill have a look at that. The way it cut out was like it had been pulled.
I hope not the carbs, I had them rebuild by a dealer...

the posts in 96-97 GTX are known to be to exhibit this piss poor behavior of dropping the magnetic reed due to some vibration at higher rpms. That kills the engine.

Shame is these magnetic switches should be rated for 100k operations
