SHO SVHO Heat Barrier?
Anyone care to comment on this "Heat Barrier" for 1800cc Yamaha motors both the SHO & SVHO??

Not really buying into the claims!

On a SC ski with IC its pointless.
If you were running in a race class with restrictions with a NA ski it might net you a couple HP.

this is like the throttle body spacer. I think both don't do much at all.

The point is so the intake manifold is isolated from the engine reducing heat soak into the intake manifold since it is aluminum, therefor reducing air intake temps, gaining more power. It is not the claim to space the intake manifold away from the engine.

Minimization of heat transfer from the engine block into the intake manifold which acts to re-heat air which has just left the intercooler. Better hole shot and top speed is maintained due to reduced heat fade and lower charge air temps.

Correct, but since this is a ski that has an unlimited cold water source you would be better off water cooling it if you wanted to drop its temps. And with an intercooled ski you net much better gains in using a better IC with dedicated line over a isolating spacer.
If I was racing in a class that was restrictive and allowed the spacer might be worth trying as any gain can give you an edge but for a rec ski or highly modded I would not spend the coin.
