    300x loose steering

I saw the thread but no pics of what needs to be done. It's all around loose at 40hrs.

    any help would be great.

Dealer told me that's how they all are. I read on here that you can tighten a couple of bolts if you want to toy with it.

first undo the four bolts holding the u shaped bar clamps lay the bars forward, then lift the lower shroud up and to the side there are four bolts holding the tilt mechanism undo them now the tilt mechanism will be in your hand on the ski, next undo the large nut with the cotter pin in it lift that plate up then undo the two 10mm headed locking bolts twist the plate to the next holes and refit the bolts ok ski work is done now for the tilt mech. remove the main nut and pin, the pin has a machined shoulder take the pin to a machine shop and get a slither machined off the shaoulder this will allow a little more clamp force when tightened. the rest of the mod is explained in the how to section from memory

    its all explained here http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=167317

I can play around with something today for a little while but can't get into taking everything apart.
I don't have to have it tight but tighter would be nice for now.
How's getting to that castle nut?

The other alternative of course is getting the upper steering and handlebars from either Riva or Farthing but it's gonna cost ya ($450)but they look great steerings tight and might add a little value to your ski if you sell the ski its one of those Bolt on mods that buyers like as it's an improvement over stock and looks real good and doesn't question engine reliability ..

BTW it's easy to install with the Riva directions.

    I strongly dis-agree

if the movement he is experiencing is from the loose base nut setting , the upper WILLNOT stop that Dave

if he is feeling the movement in the Adjustable part of the OEM yes it will help

but EVERY Ultra I have owned has had TBM, and EVERY Ultra including my 310R has then , needed the nut adjusted

    to stop the excess movement.

nothing a few 010" shims didnt fix

    Waz

I have no idea where the movement is but I can almost make a small circle with the bars while sitting on it.
