Crating an Engine
Has anyone shipped a ski engine? Any tips on building a crate to ship it? I've never done it, so even the most basic advise would be appreciated.

call SBT for one of their cardboard boxes
hahaha
just make it as small as possible to conform to the size or the motor. cross pieces to mount brackets or bolts for the motor mounts and bolt the engine to the crate. combination of nails and screws to construct the crate. screws sometimes snap but grab better during construction, but nails will twist and bend fi the crate takes some abuse.

Hey Frank go to Uhaul and get yourself a T.V. box. They are double layered.
Place a garbage bag in the box and fill the bottom with Great stuff foam.
Buy it at home depot in the red cans. After you put some foam on the bottom of the box
Then place the engine in a garbage bag and take all the air out of the bag and tie it up. and set it on top of the foam you already put in the bottom of the box. Then goto town with the foam Foam all around the engine. It exspands and cradles the enigine very snug.
You will use about 4-6 cans of foam.
Hope this helps Austin
