06 RXT Rebuild
So About to put new pistons in my 06 rxt stock compression ratio is 8.4 Question is what is the bennifit or reason to go up in compression to the 9.5 pistons? Pros & Cons would Help ordering Parts next week so let me know.

high compression pistons quench the inefficiency of the SC resulting in more power and better economy. Downside is more heat usually but I wouldn't worry about it with 9.5s in the 4tec. Too high of compression and you risk detonation. If you go with the 10s you really should be tuning and datalogging.

running 9.5 pistons will require more fuel than stock pistons
so it will run lean on a stock tune
any time you run lean your run the risk of detonation
seadoo put 8.4 in for a good reason....junk fuel

A friend of mine has the 9.5 in his rxt. Great acceleration but he runs 100 octane fuel. Not worth it in my opinion. He's already been through 2 head gaskets in a year.

Not the pistons fault and the exact thing can be said about adding just a X-SC. You'll blow it up. However if you're smart about it and add 42s you have a reliable setup. Be smart about it and you'll have 0 Issues. 9.5s sure as hell don't require race fuel on a otherwise stock engine.

Thx I'll probably get the 9.5 as I'll be running the x-charger with 42 inj rrfpr with fizzle ext inter cooler.

with a rrfpr you may have enough fuel with that setup

Ghebert probably has no compression in his cylinders now that he has had...
