VXR Riva Storage Tub
I would like to get a few more gallons of storage in my vxr and was looking at the vxr riva storage tub which adds an additional 4 gallons of storage.
My question is does this have any effect on heat build up in the engine compartment or limit venting of the heat? That would be my only concern, especially over the long term.
Just wondering if anyone has had this in their ski and had any overheating issues or anything like that because of it.
Here is the link to it for reference: http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...oducts_id=1661

Bryan u just need to remove small resonator and install a pvc plumbing plug from the depot and a hose clamp. Bucket works great...sometimes sticks to bottom of seat when lifting seat but drops back in place...

I've got the Riva storage tub in my 13 VXR and as 1200 stx-r mentions.....all you need to do is remove the small resonator which sits where the tub will go. In removing the resonator.....you'll have to insert a plug at it's connection point. R&D makes a kit just for that and I bought it from GreenHulk on Ebay for $7.99 shipped.

The plug in R&D's kit is a Nibco 5817 ABS 3" pipe cap. It's available on Amazon for $8.99 by itself......so you might as well buy the R&D kit for $1.00 less and get the instruction sheet. Insert the cap hollow end facing out......a dab of silicone grease will allow you to push it all the way flush -and- just tighten up the clamp.
While you're at it, you might as well do the Tommy Jordan exhaust mod. I don't have a direct link......just do a search; it's a worthwhile (free) exhaust mod.
As for heat build-up......I wouldn't think so as the tub resides on the other side of the bulkhead from the engine.Last edited by hkg3k; 05-13-2014 at 04:30 PM.

just grab a pvc plug from the depot for like $1.50 and use hose clamp that was there....your M & M's will melt !!! it does get warm but wont melt the tub at all. i drilled a couple holes in my hull and used frogzskin for rear air venting. also helped out the air intake by making a few mods too. and yes its on the other side of bulkhead from engine BUT its the exhaust that makes the heat....
