Thank you for the good analysis of the sensor and display unit. This is very similar to the results with the Sea Doo clusters. In effect they are powering the Hall Effect sender at the same time as sensing the pulses.

So will it just be a 2 wire connection to the GPS unit? Where will the power connection come from?

There will be a two pin connector, exactly like the connector you currently have on the speed sensor, that plugs into the connector leading up to the display. There will also be two wires with ring terminals to connect to the battery. The GPS unit gets its power from these two wires, but uses the presence of voltage on the two pin connector to turn it on or off. When off, it draws zero power from the battery.

Remind me to look for a tidy place in the MSX 140 wiring harness to tap into power and ground.

I cant think of anywhere that is good to tap into. When I wired up my lr module to power a bilge pump and depth finder I used ring terminals and connected to the start solenoid post and connected the negative to the engine block. I think I used either a coil ground point or went under one of the intake manifold bolts.

So we're talking about taking a seadoo gps unit and hooking it up to our skis in order to display true gps generated mph? COOL! For my current gps hook up, I ran power wires into one of the electrical box ports, connected spade plug ends, and attached the ground to one of the extra ground spades by the voltage regulator and the positive to one of the extra orange(i think) wire spades so it only draws power when running.

Correct. Its a unit that replaces the paddle wheel sensor to display gps speed on the stock msx dash. I will be buying 2 when they become available.
