Peter, I disagree. Cold water should be #1.
-if you can comfortably ride than you are under dressed for a head-first plunge.
-the shock of being thrown will be replaced with the thought of dying when your head hits the water.

LOL ok you did make me laugh... perhaps I should reevaluate my death to fun ratio.

Yup, the water temp at Poughkeepsie is between 33* and 34* F. (zero'ish C)

Yes, staying dry would be nice but going in can KILL YOU...rather quickly.
-plus snow melt flooding will fill the river with debris.

With the rain, this looks like a great wrenching weekend in the garage.
-w/out having to fire up the heaters to keep my beer from freezing.
My luck this would be the day when its tempting glass out no wind and I go out and leave a drain plug out! Burrrrrrrrr.......actually for about 45 seconds than silence!

I would do it, but I have a wet suit that would allow me to go for a swim in such water temperatures.

Not favorable... Think I'll reevaluate around April or May

60's again maybe this week-end. C'mon down to the Delaware @ Trenton. If the ice jam breaks, should be some wild riding!!!! You might even make the news!
