Out of curiosity have you checked the resistances on the stator? The two that commonly fail on the Gen 1 ignitions are stator purple to ground (1200 ohms) and stator gray to ground (88 ohms).

If either one of those reads open loop or infinity you may need a stator too.

If you do need a CDI I have a Gen 1 Hurricane CDI I would be willing to sell. PM me if you're interested.

I'd like to try and replace the CDI before replacing the stator. Yours still available? Can I swap in a Gen 1 Hurricane CDI without replacing anything else?
