SBT Drive shafts

just seeing if anyone is using SBT drive shafts i have 05 rxp that needs new shaft soon and i see SBT do a shaft for half the price of OEM. part no. 271001601
SBT Code: 74-113A-08, are they junk??

Besides not trusting the material to be of good enough quality for the splines to hold up-let alone on 215 hp, I had a issue with them a couple years ago. Bought a used ski that had just had the wear ring- impeller replaced by a shop. Couldnt get a carbon seal to seal for anything in this ski. Tried every trick I know to get them to seal. Pulled shaft and measured compared to a used oem one I had. Circlip groove in the shaft was machined about 3/16 of a inch forward on the a/m shaft- so it would never put the correct pressure against the carbon seal. Replaced with used oem and never had another issue. Know it was sbt shaft and not wsm(which I wouldn't use either- dealer for both but certain items should stay oem) because I ended up finding shops work order in paperwork when I sold it a year later. Find a nice used oem from a part out. just my opinion

I would think they would be OK for a stock ski. If you get a shaft that is different from OEM, i.e. c-clip groove off 3/16", I would return it. Its obviously not the correct shaft.

Junk it is. I was preparing my sbt shaft for painting, it falled down from 60cm on a tile floor and broke like glass. Tiles are fine but shaft is broken in two pieces. SBT quality as usual, I will buy an OEM this time.
Because everything is under lockdown and no parcels are coming, I will probably not ride before 6 months or maybe more. Thank you SBT shit!

Not really all that surprising .... tempered steel is a lot like tempered glass. Now add-in a combination of cheap steel (too much iron) that was overly tempered - yes, that is a thing.
