    Bog on WOT run...

Anyone? This is driving me crazy, considering buying new intake gaskets, just need someone to confirm that possibility.

if you have a air leak from the intake , normally will have high idle or runaway like most people call it.
if its water mix with oil,you will need to take that cylinder off and check the base gasket, exhaust manifold gasket and head gasket.
but check for metal.it does looks like metal .maybe the crank is coming apart,or could be damage to the bottom of the piston and you cannot see that unless you remove the cylinder.

Grease on the gaskets should not pose a problem.

The spark plug looks like it has metal on it or it is just the light/flash reflecting off it when you took the picture. Is there metal on the porcelain of the spark plug?

Did you wipe off the top of the piston? It does not have the oily mixture on it. It does look like it was running lean. What do the other pistons look like?

Water can get in through the head gasket, base gasket (highly unlikely), exhaust gasket (air would have to flow the wrong way), cracked cylinder (with good compression...not cracked), water ingestion from the carbs (only one cylinder effected...not ingestion).

Do you know how many times the head gasket has been re-used if any?

Wipe off that head and take a picture of the dome to see if there is any physical damage.

Yes I did wipe off the piston for the picture.

The best way I can describe the greasy stuff on that plug is anti seize. The white part of the plug was clean.

As far as I know the head gasket has never been reused.

One suggestion I got was that the stinger might be leaking water onto that carb only? The head gasket has to be replaced now anyway, so that'll address that possibility. Then I'll be sure check all the connections on the stinger.

The coating on that head got chewed up. It looks like it was heat/water damage not physical broken parts damage.

Do you see the anti-seize stuff in any of the intake ports? I see it in the exhaust port. Trying to find out where it came from.

Does the stinger coupler hang over the number 2 cylinder?
