Since the hull was already upside down, decided to put it on the stand that way and start working on what could be the ugliest piece of this puzzle...Click image for larger version.

I'm pretty sure this hull was run in '99 with a 951. Possibly in 97 or 98 with an 800?

It has a 140 mm support plate and an aluminum shoe.

The aluminium shoe was originally smaller and has been ground out to close to 140. It's still smaller than the tunnel and the pump support, creates a pinch point, then opens back up to the 140 pump.

The ramp is also short by about 2 inches compared to the 951 / 155mm.

So, I guess it's time to put the fiberglass GSXL on it's head and start measuring and comparing.

    New plan.
B/c the tunnel is ~15mm narrower & b/c I've got an XPL hull available, I guess I'm going to graft in a new tunnel.

Ideally, pop a mold of the XPL tunnel and make a c.f. piece.Click image for larger version.

Been following for a while. I have a 98 GSXL hull section that I saved for just such a occasion. Basically cut from the front engine mount across, then down both outer chines and back to the bond line and across there. It would be supereasy to splash a part from it. That was my intent at one time. If you want I can meet you half way. Like I said been following for a while and want to see this build done to its fullest potential. I even kept the ride plate.

Hydro-Mike, that's an awesome offer & I'm not going to count it out.

    I think I've got a solution.
Tunnel width is near exact to a 215 rxp & length is the same as the 255.

I have a 215 pump support here. The ramp width is the same. Length is ~2" longer.

What I lose in width, gain in length, so volume should be similar.

Pros & cons using this support:
Lose less tunnel length compared to any 951, but 3 inch setback now on the pump. Sorta like the 95 xp had.

Don't have to move the engine as far forward with the pump further back.

After a lot of cutting, grinding and chiseling, I crawled back up inside the hull and found the last 2 bolts hidden under another layer of matting. Pretty much fell out after that.

Here was a quick pic of what needs to be removed from the tunnel to fit a new shoe.

Looks like it's time to roll it over again, start laying c.f. around the tunnel.

That sounds like a idea that has potential. I can see more benefits with pump pressure down the road. Nice work around!
