What's the skinny on the Double Bearing Pump mods?
What's the word on these things? Anyone had it done with success? I remember reading that Peteshauling had Skat do one that caused a problem. was that fixed? And I've heard that both PPG and Impros does this as well.
So who's had it done? What does it cost? What do you get out of it? Is it worth the money in your opinion? Thanks.

I have the impros double bearing mod. It's holding up great so far.
Not sure what it costs. I bought the modded pump used from Rocket Man.

What do you get from doing that? Just no marks on your wear ring? Or are there benefits?

No marks on the wear ring.
If you only have a single bearing and the shaft deflects then it is dragging reducing performance. So i guess its safe to say that the double bearing mod is a performance enhancement since it prevents the deflection.
By the way, Skat Trak now has a tripple bearing mod
I saw one in Nils shop. Pretty sweet!

Both Jarrett and I are getting scarring on one side of the wear ring. It could be prop flexing, but I suspect it's bearing deflection. I'm going to do the double bearing mod (or triple???) at some point. I think it is important for a modded ski.

Yep, its shaft deflection Franko. You guy's definately need to go for the modded pump. I would go for the Skat tripple bearing mod if I were you.

I guess since i ride in mostly deep water with little chance of sucking up rocks just sea weed and the occasional piece of litter that i would be pleased with the double bearing pump with stainless wear ring? While you were away Jerry i had a about a 10 minute ride on a beautiful 70 degree day that ended in mangled impeller and driveshaft splines. So now i'm getting rid of the junk plastic pump and getting an RXP unit with RXT driveshaft, solas prop, and probably the double bearing mod with the stainless wear ring.

Well the way i look at it the only way i do mods is when i break stuff, so this is a perfect opportunity. Plus the g/f doesn't know when i'm upgrading. She thinks its all stock replacement.
