Bottom line what Bob is saying is correct. LEO's are tasked with upholding the law.
The people voted in lawmakers, governors, etc, that pass and sign laws that many LEO's are told to uphold.
So they hold their noses and do so. They cannot simply refuse without consequences. Consequences of the sort that may affect their lively hoods and ability to provide for themselves and their families.
So I think what Bob is saying is we, the people, need to get off our asses and bring about change. And voting is not always enough. But complacency rules the roost these days.
Gavin Newsome is probably one of the worst 2A guys ever. And believe me, nobody loves Gavin more than Gavin. He has his sights on the White House.
Not that I think he'd ever be elected, but stranger things have happened.
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a great New Years.

Virginia governor’s call for 18-person gun ban force comes under fire

Virginia’s pop-up gun sanctuary movement has turned its attention to fighting the governor’s call for a $4.8 million, 18-officer team to enforce his proposed “assault weapons” ban.

Two key groups issued an alert this week to push gun owners to four budget hearings Thursday around the state, asking them to quiz state legislators if they will vote to ban or confiscate weapons.

“We understand that this is short notice. But it would have a significant impact if many of our members could show up and make a 3-minute statement and ask questions of the legislators in attendance,” said the Virginia Citizens Defense League.

“We see in the governor’s proposed budget that he wants $4 million and 18 new law-enforcement positions to enforce a ban on commonly-owned firearms,” said Erich Pratt, Gun Owners of America senior vice president.

“Gun owners want to know: Is this money going to be used for the gun confiscation?” he added.

Both groups have been key in the surprising success of the organic gun sanctuary movement in Virginia that was prompted when Gov. Ralph Northam said he’d back sweeping gun control legislation after Democrats took control of the legislature in the 2019 elections.

The election surprised gun owners and prompted them to subsequently flood town and county meetings to demand that local lawmakers OK sanctuary resolutions to ignore Richmond’s gun control urge.

A surprising 91% of all state counties have adopted the resolutions, sending a signal to state lawmakers.

In two weeks, the groups are planning to bus in thousands of gun owners for a “lobby day” in Richmond to reinforce demands not to pass new gun laws.

Homeland Security Chief Orders Review Of State Laws Allowing Driver’s Licenses For Illegal Aliens

Chad Wolf, the acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), ordered a review of state laws that allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses and restrict data sharing with federal immigration authorities.

Wolf on Tuesday ordered all of the components of DHS to conduct a department-wide review of the state laws to determine how they affect their day-to-day operations, according to a memo obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The DHS chief’s directive indicates he is prepared to take aim against the state laws.

“Accordingly, I am instructing each operational component to conduct an assessment of the impact of these laws, so that the Department is prepared to deal with and counter these impacts as we protect the homeland,” Wolf’s memo read.

The memo follows implementation of New York’s “Green Light” law, and passage of a similar bill in New Jersey in December. Both laws not only allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses, but also restrict DMV data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security.

In New York, in particular, numerous county clerks have expressed reservation over the fact that illegal aliens can obtain a driver’s license with foreign documentation — arguing that such a policy paves the way for voter fraud, identity theft, and even terrorism. DHS had already voiced its opposition to a provision in the New York law that prohibits Homeland security Investigations, a division of ICE, from accessing DMV information — even if the agency is investigating serious crimes.

“Laws like New York’s greenlight law have dangerous consequences that have far reaches beyond the DMV,” DHS spokeswomen Heather Swift said Tuesday. “These types of laws make it easier for terrorists and criminals to obtain fraudulent documents and also prevent DHS investigators from accessing important records that help take down child pornography and human trafficking rings and combat everything from terrorism to drug smuggling.”

A total of 14 states allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses in the U.S.

Wolf’s memo ordered DHS agencies to assess the following: What DMV information is currently available and how is it accessed? How is the DMV information used in day-to-day operations? What are the security consequences and long-term impacts if information is limited?

WTH… Hillary Clinton Appointed Chancellor of Queen’s University, Belfast

    This was weird.

Hillary Clinton was appointed as Chancellor of Belfast’s Queens University for a period of five years, effective January 1, 2020.
Clinton is the university’s 11th chancellor and first woman to take on the role.

QUB previously gave Hillary Clinton an honorary degree and the chairman of the school’s senate praised her in a statement.

“Secretary Clinton has made a considerable contribution to Northern Ireland and as an internationally recognized leader will be an incredible advocate for Queen’s and an inspirational role model for the Queen’s community,” Stephen Prenter, chairman of the school’s senate, said in a statement.

It is our pleasure to introduce #HillaryClinton as our 11th Chancellor and 1st female Chancellor. Welcome to the @QUBelfast family @HillaryClinton.

This controversial move received backlash from people across the world, including locally in Northern Ireland.
“Securing Mrs. Clinton will be seen as a coup for Queen’s” BBC reported.

Mrs Clinton succeeds Dr Tom Moran – who died last year.

While the role of chancellor is mainly a ceremonial one, securing Mrs Clinton will be seen as a coup for Queen’s.

The chancellor often presides at graduation ceremonies and is also an ambassador for the university abroad.

Mrs Clinton will also act as an advisor to the vice-chancellor Prof Ian Greer and senior management.

The former Democratic presidential nominee previously received an honorary degree from Queen’s in 2018.

Ex-Bush Aide ‏Believes Pelosi Holding Articles to Sabotage Trump’s SOTU Address

Rosenzweig believes Pelosi wants President Trump to still be under impeachment and not acquitted when he gives his State of the Union address February 4th.

In a multi-part tweet, Rosenzweig wrote:

I think I may have figured out why @SpeakerPelosi is holding the articles of impeachment (or at least part of the reason): She wants to make sure that when POTUS gives the SOTU on Feb 4, he is still under impeachment. /1

Imagine what it would be like if he got to give the SOTU having been cleared by the Senate — it would be a full-blown triumphal rant. But if the impeachment is still pending, it might, instead, be an unhinged narcissistic screed of almost unimaginable insanity. /2

Just think of how painful it would be for 53 Republican Senators to sit in the halls of Congress, watching a live meltdown on national TV. That, alone, would be worth the price of admission. Maybe I’m wrong and this hasn’t crossed her mind — but I love the idea. /fin

I appreciate your attempt to clarify my position however, I am not too far off from Yo's position. LEOs take an Oath of Office to Uphold the Constitution. 2A is part of it, and for state/local officers, to uphold the same & state laws. Virginia's constitution reflects 2A. 2A has NOT been repealed in either case. My position, according to 2A, is that all gun laws are un constitutional. Therein, lies the dilemma for all in law enforcement as many hold the same view as mine, but not all. I prefer all lawful means to to bring this to a peaceful and agreed conclusion. To do otherwise will end in disaster.

Your state is lost to the crazies and totalitarian malcontents.

Agreed. However, if this were the case entirely then I can buy a 30 round clip for my mini in Ca? Nope.
STATE law says no. 2A says yes.
I do not know that more guns in the hands of the public would be such a great thing. However I would never support any measure that infringes on a Constitutional Right.

After Buying Marijuana, Illinois Lieutenant Governor Becomes a Federally Prohibited Person

Illinois passed a recreational marijuana legalization bill last year and on January 1, users could legally buy (heavily taxed) weed at a handful of locations around the state. Many locations reported long lines, but Illinois’ Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton used her VIP status to cut to the front of the queue and purchase some dope on New Years Day.

Our state’s lieutenant governor buying marijuana doesn’t exactly seem like the actions of a good role model. Then again, the purchase probably served as much as a photo op to burnish Stratton’s hard-left political reputation.

Leaving aside the jokes about the possible marijuana intoxication of many Land of Lincoln’s lawmakers given our state’s sad condition, her purchase has some implications for her personally.

After all, federal law still considers marijuana a Schedule I drug. And while weed legalization proponents are working to change that, current federal law still prohibits the use of cannabis, both recreationally and medicinally.

In Illinois, purchasers have their photo IDs scanned as part of marijuana purchases. Yes, the same Democrats who say that requiring government-issued photo IDs are too burdensome a requirement for voting are just fine mandating them to buy pot.

Those scans go to the State of Illinois and our state government shares them with the feds.

In other words, those buying now-legal pot in Illinois have effectively put themselves in the prohibited person category when it comes to gun ownership, at least where federal law is concerned.

While the Illinois State Police have said they will not revoke Firearms Owners ID cards from recreational or medical marijuana users, purchases will be denied when NICS background checks are conducted.

Furthermore, given recent crackdowns on who can own firearms, unless the feds change the law soon to decriminalize marijuana, it seems likely that someday Illinois may well use marijuana use as an excuse to crack down on users of weed, citing the federal prohibition.

Personally, I support marijuana legalization and don’t like the two-tiered system we have, nor the complications it creates for otherwise law-abiding gun owners.

Obviously Julia Stratton supports legalized pot, taking time on New Years Day to stock up.

Californication is in violation of 2A. Whether you agree or not about public ownership of AR15's (or any firearm), you and every gun owner in your state should sue the Governor, and others, personally and collectively, in federal court for denying you your Constitutional RIGHTS!

    BTW, its not "clips".....its magazines!
