personally i wouldn't try to save a buck on something as important as springs, just buy the riva kit and be done with it, unless you know someone that knows the automotive equivalent springs from ferrera

they say they are specifically for the seadoo 4 tec engine, one says that you use the stock retainer , the other says you can buy there Titanium one for $199.00

Ferrea make the ones for Riva,
A lot of members have been using the Supertech springs and retainers for around $250.00,
It is just a bunch of crap to say just use Riva,
which ones do you use and how do they work?????
why is everyone so gun shy to try and build a better mouse trap?
thanks,

Because if that mouse trap goes off when its not supposed to your gona have one fucked up engine!!!!
I run the ferrea valves, springs and retainers, safe as houses to 10,000.
Its not that the riva kit is superior, its just proven.
How many RPM do you want to turn???
If its below 8700 and you have a stock cam just get a set of seadoo centre retainers and be done.

So you can run SeaDoo Centre Retainers with stock springs at 8600 without springs?

Yes, les's retainers are fine at 8600, they have to be for stock class. I have seen them be run higher, for a rec boat I prob wouldnt run them any higher then 8650. You can run 9000+ with lightened valves.
One issue with les's retainers is they wont allow high lift cams, but for most people here that is no issue.

whats the issue with standard retainers? are they the only limiting factor when trying to extend the standard limiter?
