09 260X Not charging
After starting the engine a few secs.. the BATT signal with the buzzer comes on.
After running for a bit.. battery goes dead.
What is fastest and simplest way to diagnose before sending it to shop.

Check the 3 lead stator coil connection if it's tight, unplug and check for corrosion, check the regulator connection for corrosion also, if everything look fine the next step is to test with multimeter,if your mechanictly wise you can do the test yourself, if not let the shop do it.
Magneto Output Voltage •Remove:
Seat (see Seat Removal in the Hull/Engine Hood chapter)
Air Filter with Duct (see Air Filter Removal in the Fuel
System chapter) •Disconnect the 3-pin stator coil leads connector [A].
•With the hand tester [A] check the magneto output (in
circuit) according to the following table with the engine
running at approximately 3 000 rpm.
WARNING
To avoid electrical shock, do not perform this test
with the watercraft in the water.
Magneto Output Voltage
Connections
Meter Setting
Meter (+) to Meter (–) to
Standard Value
250 V AC White lead White lead 48 ∼ 72 V
If the magneto output voltage is correct, check the regulator
according to the regulator test procedure.
If the magneto output voltage is low, check the stator coil
resistance with a multimeter according to the following
table.
Stator Coil Resistance Test
Connections
Meter Setting
Meter (+) to Meter (–) to
Standard Value
R × 1 Ω White lead White lead 0.432 ∼ 0.648 Ω
If the coil has normal resistance, but the voltage check
shows the charging system to be defective, then the
permanent magnets in the flywheel have probably weakened

how do you know its not charging? im guessing its more like a stuffed battery (dropped cell) the electronics needs a constant 12v to function and run the coils. i would get the battery load tested.

1st easy thing to do is put a multi meter across the battary terminals with engine off what does it read ?
then start it up and see what it says .......... should be around 13.0+volts if charging correctly
if not you got problems
1st rule of testing
KISS
Keep
It
Simple
Stupid
then check your battery
then start worring about something else if all else fails
