I live in SFla. & my son is buying a 2000 GP1200R.
What steps does he needs to take to be able to put the unit in the water without breaking any laws?
The pwc is registered in Tenn.

If your are wanting to put it in the water asap. you have 30 days from purchase to get it reg. you can run it with no problems as long as you keep the bill of sale with you. this is from the fl dmv website
Requirements and Procedures
You have 30 days from the time of purchase to register your vessel. To do so, head to the county tax collector's office in the county where you live, or where the vessel is located.
Bring with you:
Completed registration application.
Manufacturer's Statement of Origin, or its equivalent.
Receipt showing you paid the sales tax (if applicable).
Fee payment.
You can also mail the required documents and payment to the county office.
Keep the registration certificate on board whenever you're operating your boat. During the 30-day grace period after purchasing the vessel, be sure to keep your purchase receipt with you when operating the vessel.
