FX140 Best Bang for the Buck
I want to try to improve the acceleration for getting out of the hole if possible. What is the best bang for the buck? Impeller? Intake grate?

You need to get rid of the restrictive OEM air filter, which often clogs with oil on that model. Just for a test, pull the OEM air filter out and try a test run without it for a few minutes and feel the difference. Check out Riva's Power Filter and Velocity Stack Kit. Also check your impeller carefully for any dings or damage.

Definitely start with the intake grate and impeller, but you will want to do the velocity stack kit so that you make the power to pull the impeller.
You might want to look at the complete RPM kit

I'm sure I will build up to the RPM kit but would rather do it a piece at a time. Makes me feel better about spending 1K on my jet ski that cost $3500. If I had to pick one to do first would you recommend the intake grate or impeller. With the velocity stacks what are guys doing when they spray the motor down with silicone after riding? Just cover it all up with something?

I had a FX140 and did the R&D velocity stacks and homemade exhaust and was happy with the results.
