Is a High-collar Mustang vest overkill for a 52-mph Waverunner?
I have an opportunity to purchase a new Mustang vest for a few bucks but am concerned it may be overkill. The vest is the MV4601 Mustang High-collar vest that is tested to 100-mph. I normally use a generic no-name vest from West Marine while riding my stock Yamaha Waverunner VX Deluxe, which tops out at 52 mph.
Is it overkill? For those of you that have this type of vest, do you find the high collar to be uncomfortable?
Thanks in advance.

I have the version with pockets and I love it.
Never even found it too hot in the summer. Gives extra sun protection for the back of your neck.
Some issue with hats though, a backwards baseball cap is a no goer and a bucket hat has issues especially when you stand.
Apart from those minor quibles, I'm a fan.
Would buy again.

Thanks guys! The vest came today and is just what I was looking for.
There is no manufacturing date on any label but I think it may be old stock because the Mustang website no longer lists YELLOW for this model and the outer covering is stuck to the foam interior. I am not sure if this is normal or not. What do you think?

My outer cover is only stuck/glued to the interior just above the first buckle on both sides. My lot # is 030801

I have one too and I love mine.
I wear mine on my mid 40's mph standup--never even thought about overkill.

Thank you for your responses. They are very much appreciated.
My lot# is 021001. I am not sure how that equates to date of manufacture. Could it be February (02), 2010 (10) ?? If that is the case then I am not concerned.
It is a very nice vest; definitely a cut above your typical Overton's vest. The only problem is it will be collecting dust for another month or two before I can use it.
By the way... excellent forum you guys have here. There is a ton of info for speed freaks, stock riders, and everyone in between.
Thanks again.
