What speed justifies SS intake?
Jerry's gauging interest in another run of SS 800 grates. At what speeds do the cast aluminum grates fail? I've read of cracks at 80 mph. If I want to top out at 70-72 mph should I worry about grate failure?
Thanks.

its not just speed which can cause a grate to fail. defects in the grate or intake grate bolt pulling through are other causes. some forum members sell upgraded intake grate mounts and bolts for prevent bolts pulling through. also you should always inspect your intake grate before every ride for lose bolts and cracks.

!00% correct on this post! I have seen 800 grates with cracks on the wing that the ski would only run 73-74 mph and the grate still cracked. Any mods you can do to your ski to make it safer are all worth the money. You can not put a price on your safety!!!!!!!!! Tommy Jordan
