starting problem?
1998 slxh 1050, Purchased sight unseen Jan. 3rd 2011. I just finished replacing the stator upgrade including new cdi, put engine back, connected all the wiring in the box, hoses etc. Yesterday I put the battery in (battery has been in the garage on tender since purchase. Connected lanyard, press start button, nothing! MFD comes on, but no power to starter at all.
What do I check or test?

Re-check that ALL the ground connections are as they should be.
Disconnect the battery negative post. Use you ohm-meter to confirm zero ohms from each place that should be grounded, back to the (currently loose) battery negative cable end. Check from each item inside the electrical box (Black wires, and metal tabs on CDI, LR module, metal mounting plate, etc.
If those are all good, then leave the negative battery cable disconnected, and ohm check from the POSITIVE battery post to the Red/Purple wires in the electrical box. Again should be zero ohms.
Make sure the thin red wire in the electrical box is connected to the same heavy solenoid terminal as the heavy red wire that goes to the battery + post.
Follow the power and ground connections until you find the missing/incorrect connection.

Thank you
I found the problem, it is that the solder links were broken off at the small red/purple wire connection at the fuse, the fuse was getting no connection- I have solder! But your post helped me isolate the area!
Thanks again
