Was there anything wrong with the EMM?

With the TPS unplugged, you cannot 'give it throttle" since the TPS is the throttle signal to the EMM. No TPS signal to EMM means no change in fuel delivery through the injectors, just some more air through the engine, but not more fuel.

Do you have another good TPS to try?
Yes, They repaired the EMM. I understand that the tps is the throttle signal. It doesnt rev up when unplugged. But engine doesnt die either, Only dies when tps is plugged giving it throttle, it dies. I dont have another tps. Could tps be the problem? Are there any other things to check, maybe in the fuel tank?

    TPS is a likely cause.

Clean the TPS contacts and pins in the wire harness connector. Clean out any dielectric grease that may be in or around the contacts.

You might try squeezing the metal connector sockets slightly with very fine needle nose pliers to ensure a tighter contact with the pins.

    Robert,
We came across TPS part #'s that match with the TPS used on Evinrude FICHT/ETEC motors. It is Bombardier part #5001793. There was some discussion a while back that the Polaris TPS was nearly impossible to get from dealers. You can look at the Bombardier Parts Diagram for any year of FICHT motor shows this exact same part number. The Evinrude web site shows the part with limited availability and a price of $73.

You might call around to local boat shops that are Evinrude dealers or certified repair shops and see if they have one.

That alternate outboard motor TPS fits the 1999-2001 Polaris Ficht engines that use the non-pigtal version of the TPS. It does not fit the 2002-2004 Ficht engines with the pigtail TPS.

I hear they are to be made out of aluminum, instead of plastic. They are going to make 2000 of them. They are sending some to Jay to test out.

Who will be making them? Honeywell?

I am sure Jay can put them to the test for fit and functionality.
