    Spray ao me lube on the shaft , If you have someone available have them turn the hat as you pull on the driveshaft.

    The hat is not the problem. It moves easy. It is the next bearing closer to the engine.

    Try to tap it around the circumference and rotate the driveshaft , only thing holding it is 2 oringsClick image for larger version.

    Is the shaft rusted they can be a real PITA.

    Just did mine last week with no issues. Even after the new bellow and carbon ring, pulled it back by hand to get the c clip in. Had to pull like mo fo, but it will go. You must have the pump in with a nut(spacer) between the impeller and driveshaft. If you don't, there is too much play in the driveshaft and you will never get the c clip groove exposed

    I've got the "nut" spacer in... but still cant push it down enough

    Is it moving at all? You ride salt water? Corrosion on the shaft?

    Everything brand new... Busy upgrading to new shaft...

    It does move, but I can't seem to move it enough...

    Get both hands on that bitch, and pull back as hard as u can. I managed to pull back and still get the c clip in. Use something to pry on it otherwise. A long piece of wood, bar, etc
