    can the gear be pinned to crank with PTO off and motor out of ski? or do you have to pull crank out of case?

    Remove engine from hull, remove pto cover, remove the pto coupler, then the gear can be pinned to the crank. IMO, the crank should be removed from the engine to be pinned by a machinist with the proper machine tools. There are other ways to do this.
